From Intern to Analyst: LVC Graduate Launches Career with Transamerica
Key Points:
- Henry Golin ’25 secured a full-time Actuarial Analyst role at Transamerica after studying Actuarial Science at LVC.
- He received his job offer before his final semester after completing multiple internships with the company.
- He first connected with Transamerica at LVC’s Breen Center career fair, which led to two summer internships.
- He graduated early, allowing him to begin his professional career ahead of schedule.
When Henry Golin ’25 arrived at Lebanon Valley College, he was ready to dive in. An Actuarial Science major and Honors Program student, Golin took full advantage of LVC’s academic rigor and close-knit community, graduating early and moving directly into a full-time actuarial role.
On campus, Golin balanced leadership, service, and academics. He served on the Honors Program Student Council as treasurer and faculty council liaison and worked as a Peer Tutor, helping fellow students in subjects such as Spanish and Economics. Those experiences strengthened key skills that complemented his technical coursework.
Golin pursued the Honors Program for the opportunities it offered beyond the classroom. “I looked forward to developing a broader perspective by taking classes centered around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and entering a community of driven and kind students,” he said. Graduating early felt like a natural next step. “I was motivated to graduate early because I felt prepared for my future career, having several internships and taking field-related classes at Lebanon Valley College.”
That preparation paid off. Golin recently began his career at Transamerica as an Actuarial Analyst on the Asset Liability Management team, where he works on cash flow forecasting models, automation tools, and quarterly reporting. LVC played a major role in helping him land the position. Encouraged to attend the Breen Center career fair as a first-year student, Golin connected with Transamerica early, leading to two summer internships and a full-time job offer before his final semester began.
Academically, Golin credits courses like Dr. [Patrick] Brewer’s Mathematics of Life Contingencies for preparing him to pass actuarial exams while sharpening his communication and problem-solving skills. Just as meaningful was the support he received along the way. “In addition to having professors and advisors who were genuinely interested in my success, I made lifelong friends inside and outside LVC’s Honors Program.”
Reflecting on his experience, Golin says, “An LVC education is invaluable because it prepares you for your life beyond college; classes help you explore technical content and improve vital skills while connections with alumni and employers present exciting internship and work opportunities.”
